You are the greater generation.
Greater.
Will Boomers fulfill their destiny as the Greater Generation and the “Greatest Generation”?
Tom Brokaw, in his 1998 book, The Greatest Generation defines the post-Depression era “Savers” as the premier cohort of Americans, whom Brokaw believed were defined by their work ethic and values of duty, honor, and personal responsibility. Born in the 1910s and 1920s, these individuals came of age during the economic collapse of the Great Depression. This period of widespread poverty and struggle forged a resilient and resourceful character. They married in record numbers, had children (the baby boomers), and took advantage of opportunities like the GI Bill to get an education and buy homes. Brokaw contends that they were responsible for building modern America and creating an era of unprecedented prosperity. They have saved an estimated $61 Trillion ($61,000,000,000,000) which is now being “passed down” to their Boomer children.
Never before has a single generation seen the scale of the 4-fold opportunity that Boomers are experiencing. They are uniquely offered the opportunity of the 4 “Ts”, Time, Talent, Treasure and the Tapestry of people and providence that is their life experience, as explained herein:
TIME
TALENT
TREASURE

The 4 Ts Opportunity for Boomers
The Greater Generation?
However for Boomers, a much different Destiny awaits our response. The Call to become the “Greater” Generation is being heard, even now.
The Lord Jesus Christ calls us into this Destiny in John 14:11-13
Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father is in Me—or at least believe on account of the works I do. Truly, truly I say to you, whoever believes in Me will also do the works that I am doing.
They will do even ‘greater things’ than these, because I am going to the Father.
And I will do whatever you ask in My name, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son.…
The immense population, economic, wealth and influence impacts explain why the Baby Boom generation has the unique opportunity to become the “greatest generation”.
The Greater Things Opportunity
First, the sheer size of the baby boom generation, an estimated 72 million people, has made them a dominant force in American society, influencing everything from the economy to culture and politics at every stage of their lives. As a large "bulge" in the population, their collective experiences and decisions have had a profound and lasting impact.
Population Impact
As they grew up, the baby boomers fueled demand for a wide range of products and services. As children, they drove the market for toys, baby food, and suburban housing. As teenagers and young adults, they created a vibrant youth market for music, fashion, and automobiles. This massive consumer base was a key driver of post-war economic prosperity. When the first “wave” of boomers reached 45 years old their effects on consumer spending was “known” as the Dow Jones went on it meteoric rise from 2,751 in 1991 (1946 + 45 years) to its current value of over 40,000.
Economic Impact
Boomers entered the workforce in the 1970s and 1980s and were able to accumulate a significant amount of wealth over their careers. In the United States, baby boomers account for 51.8% of the country’s total wealth, worth $78.55 trillion (Reed, 2024). This phenomenon has been deemed the ‘Great Wealth Transfer,’ and is set to transpire over the next two decades. An estimated $68-84 trillion is estimated to leave the hands of baby boomers and find ownership under their spouses and descendants in the subsequent generations. The Great Wealth Transfer is a greatly important moment in our history, given its economic impacts and investment implications (Haas, 2024).
Wealth Accumulation Impact
For decades, the baby boomer generation has been a powerful political force. They have been a key voting bloc and have held a disproportionate number of leadership positions, including the presidency and positions in Congress and the overturning of Roe v. Wade. The anti-war protests of the Vietnam era, in which many young boomers were involved, were a major factor in the passage of the 26th Amendment, which lowered the voting age to 18.
Political Influence
The Lord also has something to say about those who will not invest in His last days world revival movement:
16 And he told them a parable, saying, “The land of a rich man produced plentifully, 17 and he thought to himself, ‘What shall I do, for I have nowhere to store my crops?’ 18 And he said, ‘I will do this: I will tear down my barns and build larger ones, and there I will store all my grain and my goods. 19 And I will say to my soul, “Soul, you have ample goods laid up for many years; relax, eat, drink, be merry.”’ 20 But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul is required of you, and the things you have prepared, whose will they be?’ 21 So is the one who lays up treasure for himself and is not rich toward God.”
Luke 12:16-21
So Boomer, which kind of person will you be? The one who partners with the Holy Spirit and does the Greater Things? Or the one who is selfish and me focused with their Time, Talents, Treasure and Tapestry?
